Websites for Printers
Built by someone who’s actually worked in print
Hundreds of thousands of price combinations? That’s not a reason to hide behind a “request a quote” form. That’s exactly what I build.
I Speak Print
I spent 6 years in the printing industry as a printer, print finisher, pre-press operator and designer – and the last 17 years building websites for printers. So I know the jargon:
bleed, margins, safe area, registration, imposition, overprint, CMYK, preflight, proofs, halftone, DPI/LPI
You won’t spend our first call explaining the basics. We can go straight to what your shop needs.
Why Most Printers Still Don’t Sell Online
Online shop platforms are built for selling T-shirts in three sizes. Print is different: paper, size, colours, pages, quantity, finishing and turnaround multiply into thousands of prices for a single product. Standard shops choke on that – so most printers settle for a quote form.
And that costs you:
- customers who want a price now – and go to whoever shows one
- hours every week calculating quotes and answering emails
- artwork arriving in the wrong format, and more emails to fix it
- regular clients who can’t simply reorder last month’s job
Three Ways to Price Print Online
Every printer prices differently, so I build the shop around how you already work:
| Method | How it works | Best for |
| 1. Your own formula | You print in-house and know your costs. I turn your costing logic – paper, plates, printing, finishing, margin – into a calculator that prices any combination instantly. | Printers with their own production |
| 2. Price lists | Your supplier sends spreadsheets. I convert them into the right format and import them into the shop. When prices change, upload the new file – done. | Resellers buying from large print houses |
| 3. Supplier API | Prices come straight from your supplier’s system. Either on demand – fetched while the customer configures, simple and fine for products with fewer options – or synced – the whole price list downloaded regularly into your shop, fast even with hundreds of thousands of combinations. | Printers whose suppliers offer an API |

Methods can be mixed – your own products by formula, outsourced ones from the supplier. Not sure which fits you? That’s what the free review is for.

- Downloadable templates – so files arrive print-ready
- No monthly platform fees – you own the shop
I’ve Done This Before
- CheapLeaflets – a UK online print shop with hundreds of thousands of price combinations from several European printers. I’ve built its pricing both ways: live prices fetched on demand, and whole price lists synced into the shop’s database. Customers configure, compare, upload artwork and pay – without asking for a single quote
- Jupiter Associates – a website for a UK print production company
How It Works
- Free review – a chat about what you print, how you price it, who your suppliers are and what your current site does
- Proposal – the right pricing method, scope, price and timeline, in writing
- Build – you see progress as it happens, nothing is a black box
- Launch and support – your team is trained, and I’m there after launch
Questions Printers Ask
My prices change often. Will updating them be a nightmare?
No. Depending on the method, you change a value in the formula, upload a new spreadsheet, or the API sync does it for you.
My spreadsheets are a mess.
Most are. Converting them is part of the job.
How much does it cost, and how long does it take?
Every print shop is different, so there are no one-size packages. After the free review, you get a clear price and timeline in writing.
Do I pay monthly for the platform?
No. It’s built on WordPress and WooCommerce, and you own it – you only pay for hosting.
Can I keep my current website?
Yes. The shop can be added to your existing site, or we can rebuild both together.
